'Amateur'- late 18th century: from French, from Italian amatore, from Latin amator ‘lover’, from amare ‘to love’.

Artist(s) In Residence(s) is a new socially engaged and deeply immersive curatorial project that exhibits the work of amateur artists in their own homes.

Born from a sense of dissatisfaction with the way the life of professional artist can become, I decided I would like to return to a place of appreciating and finding the love in the creative process. Beginning with an open call out, this new work- ideal for festival contexts- invites a small group of audience members into the homes of the artist to experience their work. Sometimes music, sometimes paintings, sometimes interactive installation, each event is unique. 

At the heart of each exhibition/performance there is a constructed conversation between myself and the artist to discuss the ideas, processes and histories involved in being a private practitioner. Each event is documented and uploaded onto the following blog:
